Niskin bottles are used to capture targeted samples from specific points in the water column, as per the research requirements. We generally use them to obtain water samples for subsequent eDNA analysis to identify the species present, and have been present, in that location. Using leading UK supplier products, we can capture samples from near the sea floor to assess the benefit of our NID solutions over the long term.
