Reef cube® Types and Sizes
The Original Reef cube®
Designed for scour protection and rock berm applications, the RC150 and RC350 models are our original Reef cubes®, engineered as low-carbon replacements for traditional small rock armour used around offshore wind turbine foundations and oil & gas platforms.
Unlike conventional materials, Reef cubes® deliver greater habitat complexity and enhanced ecological value, transforming functional scour protection into a biodiversity-enhancing reef system.
Artificial Reefs and Scour Protection Reef cube®
The RC500 is our mid-sized Reef cube®, designed for artificial reef creation and scour enhancement around subsea infrastructure.
Compact yet versatile, it bridges the gap between small habitat units and larger scour protection systems, ideal for projects requiring both ecological function and engineering stability.
Mid-Sized Versatile Reef cube®
The RC750 is a mid-sized, multi-purpose Reef cube® used for artificial reef construction, scour enhancement, and fill-ins within coastal or protective groynes.
Balancing size and manoeuvrability, it provides both structural stability and habitat complexity, making it ideal for coastal defence projects and marine restoration schemes requiring adaptable, nature-inclusive solutions.
Large Reef cube®
The RC1000 is a large-format Reef cube® designed for artificial reef construction, scour enhancement, and coastal defence applications. Its increased size provides greater mass and stability, enabling deployment in high-energy environments such as offshore wind turbine foundations, breakwaters and exposed coastlines, where both engineering performance and biodiversity enhancement are essential.

Very Large Reef cube®
The RC1500 is a very large Reef cube®, weighing approximately 5 tonnes per unit. It’s our most widely used model for intertidal installations, offering excellent stability, habitat creation and structural resilience.
With sufficient mass for the majority of offshore and coastal applications, the RC1500 provides extensive ecological benefits, creating complex habitat networks for marine life while meeting the engineering demands of high-energy environments.
Our Largest Reef cube®
The RC2000 is our largest and most heavy-duty Reef cube®, engineered to deliver maximum stability and reef coverage in demanding offshore and coastal environments.
Providing the greatest structural strength in the range, it’s ideal for extreme weather conditions and high-energy sites, offering expansive habitat creation alongside reliable engineering performance.

The ultimate reef solution
Three engineering and ecological advantages that make Reef cubes® the leading choice for offshore and coastal projects.

How Reef cubes® Are Used Across Marine Industries
The range
Subtidal Reef cube®
Over 10 years development
Get in touchOur original, flagship artificial reef module, developed through over 10 years of continuous scientific research and innovation.
Designed with exceptional detail, its Nature-Inclusive Design (NID) incorporates advanced 3D-printed textures to promote colonisation by local fish, crustaceans, corals and kelp species. Each unit can be customised by size, texture and internal passageways, ensuring optimal performance for specific marine environments.
Available in sizes ranging from 15 cm³ to 2 m³, the Subtidal Reef cube® is our most widely deployed model, ideal for artificial reef creation, scour protection and habitat restoration across offshore and nearshore applications.

Reef cube® Combos
Connecting cubes
Enquire NowBy leveraging the modular design of Reef cubes®, individual units can be connected to create large, stable reef systems with limitless configurations.
ARC marine® combines a range of cube sizes and structures to form complex, multi-level habitats that support a diverse spectrum of marine life, from benthic species on the seabed to pelagic species higher in the water column.
Operationally, this modular approach enables the use of smaller, easier-to-handle units during manufacturing, transport and installation, while still achieving the mass, stability and interstitial volume required to form productive, long-lasting reef systems.

Intertidal Reef cube® with Rock Pools
Designed for tidal regions
Enquire NowClosely based on our original Subtidal design, the Intertidal Reef cube® retains all the same performance and ecological benefits, with the added advantage of integrated rock pools on the top, sides and base.
These recessed features provide permanent water pockets, creating vital refuge for intertidal species during low tide and encouraging colonisation by algae, crustaceans and small fish. The adapted base passageway includes an additional rock pool cavity, increasing habitat diversity across tidal ranges.
Available exclusively in larger models for enhanced stability, this version is purpose-built for tidal environments where structures are periodically exposed. It provides continuous habitat and shelter for a wider range of marine life, helping to bridge the gap between terrestrial and fully submerged ecosystems.

Reef cubes® for Scour Protection
Replacing imported Granite rock
Chat to usTypically composed of RC150 and RC350 models (with custom sizes available for specific site conditions), Reef cubes® provide an innovative alternative to traditional rock armour for offshore wind turbine scour protection.
Designed for deployment using standard side-dump or fall-pipe vessels, they can be installed efficiently around turbine foundations, cable routes and other subsea infrastructure.
By replacing imported granite with a locally manufactured, low-carbon and biodiversity-enhancing solution, Reef cubes® deliver robust engineering performance while supporting Nature-Inclusive Design (NID) principles, non-priced tender criteria and corporate sustainability goals.

Client-first evolution by in-house scientists
Our in-house team of scientists and engineers work closely with all our clients to ensure the reef design surpasses the specific needs and requirements of any given project.
As a result we see extensive enhanced biodiversity results, a wealth of new habitats and flourishing new marine life in all regions of the world – continuing to push reef cubes as the most technologically advanced and effective artificial reef available.
